This is a quote from Ellen White's famous book, Steps to Christ. It's a beautiful book that's been a huge blessing in my life, and I know you wouldn't regret taking a look at it.

People fail to understand just how deeply we are loved by God. Just imagine the person you are the closest to, or at least, who you want to be closest to.
That person that not only hears what you say, but also listens. S/he knows exactly what you like, what you hate, and just the right things to say to make you feel better when you're down. S/he picks you up when you fall, and makes you smile when all you want to do is cry. That person that you can trust all your secrets with and hides nothing from you; the one you can truly trust completely.
That is God. He's not the stern and homicidal tyrant He's made out to be. Look deeper, beyond the first glance. All He wants to do is to rush in right now and take you home in His loving embrace. But it's more complicated than that. It's not the right time. In order to give everyone a fair chance, He has to wait for the right time. It pains Him so much to see His children suffering in this world, and He's counting the days for Him to finally get to take us home.
He loves you. Yes, YOU. Despite everything you've said and done, He still loves you more than you can imagine. The Bible says that He cares so much about you that He keeps track of every time you cry (Psalm 58:6). He knows just what your heart craves for and wants to give it to you (Psalm 37:4). He cries when you cry (Psalm 34:18). Even if you kick Him down and spit in His face, He'll never stop loving you. He's there for you.

I needed to hear this so bad...
The Lord was right to warn how our mind, the fleshly mind, does not praise God. How it's so focused on whats physically present, and can be so cruel for the sake of satiating it's curiosity...
People may confuse the mind to be just be ourselves or our will, we have two. Our spiritual and our physical minds. It was an interesting talk between me and my mother, who Loves God and has accepted Jesus is her savior as I do, and we talked about how the mind doesn't worship God, and how we talked we likely have two minds, but their synced together, how it's a difficult fight between accepting God's Word but your fleshly brain refuting for all its worth of God's existance and trying to drive you insane, yet to ignore God and refuse his promise and your mind feels more at peace...
