You need to understand the culture back then: it was considered a major social embarrassment for the host to run out of food or drink for the guests, much like how embarrassing it is nowadays to ask a woman if she's pregnant...when she's just fat. You NEVER forget that mistake you made XD. So when Jesus chipped in, He was "saving the day" for the newlyweds, in a way.

How do you think the servants felt when Jesus told them to fill the jugs with water? Seriously? These people are enjoying the party, drinking wine, then you give them water? "Oh, you enjoying that cheeseburger? How about you have a carrot now?" :D

But nevertheless, they did as told, and filled the jugs with water. When they went to serve the guests, the water transformed into wine! Not only that, but the guests noticed that it was the best quality wine, too! Were the servants prepared for that? Absolutely not, but the miracle only happened because the servants followed Jesus' instructions.

Oftentimes, Jesus calls people to serve Him who are not prepared.

• David was a shepherd boy
•  Moses was middle-aged and socially awkward
• Gideon was the "runt" of the family
• Noah was an old man
• Rahab was a prostitute

None of these people were qualified for anything they ended up doing, yet because of their faith in God, they accomplished great things.

• David not only defeated Goliath - with a slingshot - but became king of Israel
• Moses led the children of Israel out of slavery
• Gideon defeated an army of 135,000 soldiers with only 300 men - by playing trumpets
• Noah saved his family, along with 2 of each unclean and 7 of each clean animals from the flood
• Rahab not only saved the two spies in Jericho, but she even lived to become a part of Jesus' lineage

God constantly finds people who lack the skills needed to do what He asks. But skills are not what matters - God wants servants who are willing to do His work in faith, and God then compensates for what they lack.
